Annular 1.2.2 ends the macOS question about your Keychain that came back every few hours.

• Fixed: macOS asked for your Mac password again every few hours, even after you had chosen Always Allow. It happened each time Claude Code renewed its login, about every 8 hours, and while the question stood Annular asked again every two minutes. Annular now reads the Claude Code login through Apple's own security tool, the way Claude Code reads it, so macOS does not ask about it any more. The switch in Settings, Sources is your yes, and switching it off stops the reading; Annular still only reads the login, and never changes or renews it.
• Fixed: Annular could quit without a word when Codex's local server ended at the wrong moment.
• The Claude Code login is now read a few times a day and kept in memory until it runs out, instead of being read every two minutes.

Annular 1.2.1 adds a theme with a double-click, and brings anonymous stats that stay off unless you switch them on.

• New: double-click a theme file (it ends in .annulartheme) and Annular adds the theme, switches to it, and shows it in Settings, Appearance. Until now macOS answered that Annular could not open the file, and the Import button was the only way in.
• New: Settings has a Privacy tab, with one switch for anonymous stats. It is off, and it stays off unless you switch it on. The tab shows the exact seven lines before you decide: the Annular version, the major macOS version, which sources are on, the name of a built-in theme (a theme of your own is only ever called "custom"), and whether the corner rings and the menu bar item are on. They go out once a day, and they hold nothing that names you, your Mac, or your copy of Annular, and never your usage, your limits, or your plan.
• Fixed: a theme you add can no longer be written over another theme that has the same name.
• A file that is far too large to be a theme is refused without being read.
• The theme list in Settings, Appearance scrolls to the theme you just added or duplicated.

Annular 1.2 reads Codex too, and the corner rings open with a click.

• Read this first if you use the rings in the corner: their panel now opens with a click, and closes with another. Until now it opened when the pointer came near, which made the things on the rings impossible to press. If you liked that, switch on "Also open the panel on hover" in Settings, General.
• New: Codex. When Codex is on your Mac, switch it on in Settings, Sources, in the panel's "Set up" tab, or in the set-up window. Annular asks Codex's own local server for your limits. Codex keeps its login and talks to OpenAI itself; Annular never sees that login, and only ever reads.
• With Claude and Codex both on, the menu bar shows one ring for each, and each ring is that one's tightest limit. One number stands next to the tighter of the two. The panel has a tab for each and opens on the tighter one.
• Annular no longer needs Claude Code: Codex alone is enough. The set-up window says which of the two it found on your Mac.
• The rings in the corner show small tags, CL and CX, to switch between Claude and Codex.
• While both are on, an alert says whose limit it is, for example "Codex weekly limit at 90%".
• Refresh Now asks Claude and Codex.
• Keep-awake explains itself: its menu starts with what it does, which is keeping this Mac awake while agents work.

Small fixes from a first install of 1.1.0: the set-up window prepares you for what macOS asks, and its text stays clear of the rings.

• The set-up window now says that macOS will ask for your Mac password when it asks about the Keychain. Choose Always Allow there, and macOS asks only once.
• Fixed: after you answer that question with no, the window says what happened and how to ask again. Before, it still said "macOS will ask once".
• Fixed: in the "You are set" window the first line of text ran over the rings.
• Fixed: Settings, Sources showed your plan in lower case, and "Last heard in 0 seconds" for a feed that had just spoken.
• The right click menu leaves Corner out while the rings are only in the menu bar.
• When macOS refuses the Keychain read, Annular now writes one line to its log, which helps if you write to support.

From 1.1 on Annular reads Claude through Claude Code only, and it can follow Claude Code's status line.

• Read this first if this Mac has no Claude Code: from 1.1 on, Annular needs Claude Code installed and logged in on the same Mac. Without it, Annular says so plainly and shows three steps to set it up, and your rings pause until then.
• Annular no longer has its own "Sign in with Claude". It reads the login Claude Code keeps on your Mac, read only, and keeps no token of its own. If you signed in the old way, Annular deletes that old login and shows you once what changed. Your history, settings, and themes stay.
• New: the status line feed. Switch it on in Settings, Sources, and the rings move the moment Claude Code replies; that update comes from your own Mac and needs no network. Annular shows you the exact change to Claude Code's settings first, keeps a copy of the file, and keeps your own status line running unchanged. Switching it off puts your earlier setting back.
• While the status line feed is live and the Claude Code login is also switched on, Annular asks Anthropic's servers at most every 10 minutes.
• With the feed on, the open panel says where each number came from and how old it is. When only the feed has numbers, the ring for a single model shows as an empty dashed ring, or is left out if you use the feed alone.
• Fixed: when the Claude Code login ran out, the rings kept showing old numbers as if they were live. They now dim and say STALE, and Annular tells you to open Claude Code, which renews the login.
• Fixed: if you answer the macOS Keychain question with no, Annular asks once and then leaves it, where it would have asked again at every refresh.
• New: Settings, About has a support address. The link starts a mail with your Annular version in the subject.

Annular now uses its own name when it talks to Anthropic, and the corner widget's menu stays out of the way.

• Annular identifies itself as Annular when it reads your usage, where it used the name of Claude Code before.
• Right clicking the corner widget now tucks an open panel away and opens the menu next to the rings, so the menu no longer covers your numbers.

Alerts no longer go missing while Annular is in front.

• Fixed: the Send Test Notification button showed a banner only the first time, and then nothing until the old notification was cleared by hand.
• Fixed: an alert that arrived while Annular's Settings window was in front could land in Notification Center without a banner.

The menu bar panel opens without a memory spike.

• On macOS 26, opening the panel from the menu bar icon no longer spikes memory: about 20 MB at its highest, where it was about 150 MB.
• The panel now has your theme's own look and shadow, and closes with Escape, a second click on the icon, or a click anywhere else.
• Fixed: when two copies of Annular started at the same moment, usage history could switch off until the next launch.
• Fixed: after a sign-in that worked, the browser could still show a connection error.
• Settings opens on the tab you asked for even when its window is already open.
• Annular now notes, on this Mac only and sending nothing anywhere, the day it first ran here (for a copy installed before 1.0.2, the date of its oldest data on this Mac).

Lighter, and safer with your history.

• The corner widget uses 4 to 5 MB less memory, and memory no longer spikes when the widget appears or the panel opens and closes.
• Fixed: usage history could be set aside and restarted empty when two copies of Annular were running at the same time.
• Sign-in is more reliable when the browser hands control back to Annular.
• The Editorial theme shows "--" while loading, like the other themes.

The first release of Annular.

• Claude usage in the menu bar, with an optional corner widget and six built-in themes.
• Alerts at 75 and 90 percent of a limit, once per reset period.
• Keep-awake from the widget, the menu, or Option-Shift-K.
